The toilet in your Rv may not have the same size as those in other RVs. This can cause problems when you want to replace your RV toilet with a better replacement. Are all RV toilets the same size?
The short answer is no. All RVs are not the same, even in size. The toilets that fit one RV will not fit another. This includes the height, weight and width of your toilet.
If you are planning to replace your toilet with a better model, read the specifications first. You may have to buy a new one or get help from a plumber if you don’t have the right dimensions in place for installing the new model.
Here are some important things to watch out for when buying your next replacement RV toilet:
Measure the height of your current toilet. If you want a taller one, you will need to make sure that it is over the required size in order to be installed correctly.
It’s also important to check the weight capacity if you want a heavier or lighter-weight toilet compared with the current one. Some of them can only hold up to 300 pounds, while others can go as high as 400 pounds or more.
A toilet’s width is also important if you want a matching model. But this is only important for the size of the unit, not its height or weight. The width of your toilet can also be different from one RV to another depending on the layout of your RV bathroom and what type of plumbing works best for that particular model.
#Height and Weight Capacity (toilet tank capacity)
Rv toilets rely on gravity to flush, so they have a limited amount of capacity in their tank. A larger toilet with more water in the tank takes longer to flush, and can clog pipes as it rises up. Your new toilet’s height, weight capacity and width must be within your Rv’s height, weight capacity and drain pipe (Ventline) capacity.
Note: Beware of ‘Universal’ replacement parts
A universal replacement part is not a standard unit replacement part that fits into any Rv toilet . Universal replacement parts consist of different shapes and sizes made by different manufacturers.
It is a common misconception that universal replacement parts are not compatible with your Rv toilet. While it is true that universal replacement parts have different shapes, the actual dimensions of the toilets are usually similar.
Universal replacement part toilets are designed to fit into a wide variety of standard toilet openings, so they will fit into your Rv toilet as well. However, you don’t want to find out later that the height or weight capacity is much lower than what you need.
